Everything ready for the Mitja Marató de Formentera and the 8 km Sant Ferran – La Savina

More than 3,700 athletes will meet tomorrow, Saturday May 14, in Formentera to participate in the XIII Mitja Marató Illa de Formentera and the 8km Sant Ferran – La Savina, in the largest sporting event held on the island. Throughout the day today, the participants from different countries and parts of the national geography have been collecting their numbers in the tent set up at the finish line and will be able to continue doing so tomorrow morning as well.
The output of both tests will be at 5:30 p.m. The Mitja Marató will start from the La Mola lighthouse and the finish line will be located in the Port of La Savina. The 2,498 registered participants will cross the island to cover the 21,097 kilometers of distance. At the same time, the 8-kilometre test will start, starting in Sant Ferran and ending also in Port de la Savina. In this distance, a total of 1,225 athletes have registered.

The test, which returns to its usual date in the month of May, after being held in October 2021 due to the pandemic and being suspended in 2020, has the institutional sponsorship of the Consell de Formentera and the Agència d’Estratègia Turística de les Illes Balears (AETIB) and its main commercial sponsors are Oysho, Trasmapi and Caixabank.
In 2021, the victory in the Mitja Marató went to José Mauel Caplliure, with a time of 1h11’04”, while in women the Dutch Nesrine Njeim prevailed, with a time of 1h 23’33”. In the 8Km, Diego Martínez (29’23”) and Roser Mañosa (32’31”) prevailed.
