
Es Pujols hosts tomorrow, Saturday, October 1, the IX Triathlon Island of Formentera in the Sprint and Olympic modes, a race that has consolidated in the calendar of national triathlons and that in this edition will bring together almost 300 local, national and international athletes, many of whom choose Formentera to end their season taking advantage of the excellent weather conditions.
The test is again contested in two modalities, depending on the distance covered by the participants. In the Sprint mode, which will start at 2:15 p.m. and in which teams will also be able to compete, the athletes will have to cover 750 meters in the water, 20 kilometers by bike and 5 kilometers on foot. The competition in the Olympic mode will begin at 4 p.m. and the participants will swim 1,500 meters, cycle 40 kilometers and run 10 kilometers.
As in previous editions, the Plaça d’Europa in Es Pujols will once again be the epicenter of the test, where the competition will begin and end and where the pits will be located for the change of each sport. Also the organization tents, where participants can pick up their numbers between 9:30 and 1:30 p.m. It should be remembered that, although online registration has already closed, athletes who at the last moment decide to participate in the Triathlon will be able to register in person on the day of the competition, from 9:30 a.m. 12:00 hours.
The event once again has the institutional support of the Council of Formentera and the Balearic Government, through the Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB), in addition to Trasmapi as the main sponsor and numerous collaborators who make it possible for Formentera to once again demonstrate its full potential to host sporting events.
Traffic cuts
For this Saturday’s test, traffic will be closed between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the streets of s’Espalmador (from the Sa Volta hotel to the exit roundabout in La Savina), s’Aigua Dolça, Roca Plana and Punta Prima, as well as the PM 820-2 road (from the exit roundabout to the entrance to La Savina). Likewise, vehicle parking will be prohibited on Saturday, October 1, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., in the streets of s’Espalmador, s’Aigua Dolça and Punta Prima.
