The Security Committee of the XI Formentera Triathlon, which met this morning, has taken the decision to suspend the event due to the declaration of Orange Alert by the Emergency Service of the Government of the Balearic Islands due to the forecast of heavy rain and wind for tomorrow, Saturday 20 September in Formentera, between 2 and 6 pm, coinciding with the time of the event.
The Security Committee, made up of representatives of the Consell de Formentera, Local Police, Civil Guard, Triathlon Federation and the Organisation of the event, has prioritised the safety of the participants to justify its decision, given the complicated weather forecast.
The Organisation would like to thank all participants for their trust in our event, regretting the damage caused by the decision taken, and they are postponed to the 2025 Formentera Triathlon.
We also thank our sponsors and collaborators for their support and loyalty, as well as the volunteers and organisation staff for their work to have everything ready for the event which, in the end, unfortunately, will not be held.
In the next few days, the Organisation of the event will inform all participating athletes of the conditions for the refund of the registration fee.
